Some European countries are feeling the weight of COVID-19’s hand through record-breaking case counts and new restrictions. Gerald Gartlehner, a professor in evidence-based medicine and clinical epidemiology, and Kai Kupferschmidt, a contributing correspondent for Science magazine, give us the rundown in Austria and Germany.
